I was running Hunts Mason X Hunt 4 Season Disc wheelset during the summer months when I wasnt using the dynamo wheel. Perhaps the biggest low of the Anywhere is the 15mm axle on the JAF fork. Thanks for the feedback. The Anywhere is nearly identical in feel and handling when on the pavement. Although I wasnt going to reduce its weight by any significant degree, it was still fun to see how light I could make the bike with limited time and upgrades available. Think ultra endurance road racing, gravel racing, a bit of touring and possibly the odd local time-trial. Currently, the bike is sold with DT Swiss XR1501 alloy wheels, fitted with 40c wide Maxxis Rambler tyres. Surprisingly, the bike does not use the leaf spring fork that made Lauf famous. Personally I dont use a dropper on a gravel bike, but I know many do. Lauf Seigla geometry. The original wheels fitted to the bike were a pair of DT Swiss XR1501 alloy hoops. Its as much about comfort as it is about control. Ill be keeping the rear hovering around 40psi for now, but the front is back up to around 48psi. Owing to the 45mm offset (versus the 47mm that their suspension fork), the bikes wheelbase is slightly shorter at 103.4cm. The Maxxis Rambler tyres seem to be a decent all-rounder. The one thing that kind of has us scratching our heads is their use of a 15mm thru-axle up front. I guess Im fairly happy rattling over rough surfaces at closer to 50psi, especially considering the squish afforded by the Grit fork. Gravel Bike Test: Lauf Anywhere - Road Bike Action Many of the routes I cycle involve either narrow and rough roads or gravel bike paths in order to avoid heavy traffic areas, or to open up new places to ride. SRAMs AXS gears did their job without grumbling, the Grit fork killed buzz as it should and the Maxxis Rambler at the front, paired with a Bontrager G2 at the back, rolled efficiently and comfortably, backed up by that shock-damping Canyon post. BikeRide works hard to help you find the lowest prices and information on each bike from the widest possible range of sources. As hinted at in my original update, see below, Ive now made one or two changes to the bike, the first of which is the addition of the Canyon VCLS 2.0 seatpost. The Smoothie handlebar is made with a combination of S2 glass fibers and carbon, but as with their Grit suspension fork, the materials are not a blend but instead separate and isolated to offer more compliance while eliminating fatigue failure. Away from work, Felix can be found zenning-out by misting his collection of exotic houseplants as well as getting lost on his bike. The SRAM Rival brakes require a re-bleed and a clean up of the pads and discs because they are lacking in power and make a horrendous noise when riding in the wet. But, on entering the outskirts of Aviemore, it was great to hit the Aviemore Orbital (yes, like any metropolis, Aviemore has an orbital) and then the highstreet back. Depending on how bad the weather is and whether I can stand getting wet on rides, a set of clip-on mudguards could be a worthy addition, as mentioned above. I also swapped the cassette from an 11-42t to 10-42t in order to increase my top-end speed. The most obvious changes were the wheels and tyres. The bike felt pretty heavy and the first few corners a little unsteady I hadnt ridden a loaded bike for a while but after the first hour I was already used to the change in handling. Basically, what we have here is a roadie version of the True Grit. The bike comes with tubeless-ready DT Swiss X1900 wheels and is specced with a Shimano-style freehub body. My road riding really took off after touring Japan in 2017 and I now enjoy bikes designed with adventure in mind. A number of gravel and road wheels wont fit the JAF forks 15mm thru-axle. Jump out the door, grind your way through or load it up and head anywhere you want. Im currently running some Ritchey pedals, but often swap between pedals for a set of Shimano XT Race pedals and something else I cant talk about right now.
